This is the shortest and most popular return route from the Mount Tateshina Seventh Station trailhead to Mount Tateshina (2,531 m), one of Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains. From the torii gate, it climbs through conifer forest to Tateshina Sanso at Shogundaira, then follows a steep rocky ascent to Tateshina Sancho Hutte and the summit. The broad, boulder-strewn summit has a 360-degree panorama.
