From the Yuriware trailhead in Iitaka, Matsusaka, this return follows a single unbranched path up into deciduous woods, crosses the Hatchodaira upland of the Muro-Akame-Aoyama Quasi-National Park near the top, and reaches the 1,235 m Mount Miune on the Nara-Mie border. One of the finest rime-ice mountains in Kansai, its trees are coated in shrimp-tail rime in January and February, and white Yashio azaleas bloom in May.
