This walk climbs 1,248 m Mount Takami on the Nara–Mie border from the Takami trailhead at Sugitani, following the stone paving of the old Ise Minami Kaido up to Kotoge and then a ridge of legendary rocks, including Yurugi Rock, Fuefuki Rock and Kunimi Rock, tied to Emperor Jinmu. The summit with Takatsuno Shrine is known for winter rime ice, and the descent turns at the Sugitani–Hirano junction past the roughly 700-year-old Takami cedar and its hut to Takasumi-no-sato in Hirano.
