This short return climbs from near Kasadake Pass in Shiga Kogen over rocky ground strewn with lava to the 2,076 m summit of Mount Kasa. A lava dome shaped like an upturned hat and regarded as a symbol of Shiga Kogen, it has cowberry and rhododendron in summer, and the summit with the inner shrine of Sano Shrine looks out to Yokoteyama, Mount Asama and the Northern Alps.
