From the top station of the Palcall Tsumagoi gondola at about 2,050 m in Tsumagoi, Gunma, this return follows a narrow ridge path with some rocky steps to the 2,354 m Mount Azumaya on the Nagano border. Named for its resemblance to a pavilion roof and counted among Japan's 100 famous mountains, its twin summits hold the shrines of Yamaga Shrine's inner sanctuary, with views over the Asama highlands and Mount Neko to the Northern Alps and Yatsugatake on clear days.
