From Kurodake Station at the ropeway’s fifth station, this one-way route climbs past Takamatsudai to the seventh-station trailhead, crosses the 1,984-metre summit of Kurodake, and continues to Kurodake Ishimuro and its designated campsite. The summit overlooks Ohachidaira, Mount Niseikaushuppe, and the Teshio Mountains, while alpine flowers emerge successively on the northeast slope after snowmelt; snow-season travel requires suitable winter equipment and skills.
