Shiriuchi Town Ski Area is a free family slope in the Motomachi district, where three runs, the steepest at 29 degrees, drop toward the Shiriuchi River. Skiers ride up on a European-style platter tow, a rare lift type in Hokkaido, and the hill stays open into the evening for night skiing, so local families and children can drop in easily. A small lodge has toilets, benches and vending machines, and sleds and binding-free snow boards use a separate run beside the lodge. The season runs from January to March, depending on snow.
