Satomigaoka Ski Area is a small, free hill in Ashoro, eastern Hokkaido, looked after by the town's board of education. A rope tow serves a single 200 m slope with an average gradient of 15 degrees, and floodlights allow evening skiing. It opens on Thursday and Friday evenings and on weekend and holiday afternoons, and the town and the local ski club hold lessons there for children. The season runs from about January to early March, depending on snow.
