Mt. Shishikura (1,288 m) lies on the border of Tabayama Village in Yamanashi and Okutama Town in Tokyo, at the northern tip of the Daibosatsu Range, on the ridge that looks down on Lake Okutama. Its summit is a quiet, tree-ringed point, but the neighbouring Mt. Ōtera carries a striking white Buddhist relic stupa that gives the route a distinctive silhouette above the lake. Hikers come either from Miyama Bridge via Mt. Ōtera or from Tabayama through Mariko Bridge and Ōtaba Pass, each a three- to four-hour ridge walk one way. The peak is counted among the 100 Mountains of Kai and the 100 Mountains of Okutama and Tama, prized as a quiet ridge hike near Lake Okutama.
