Mt. Sangun

Sangun-san is an 805.9 m granite peak in Okuizumo Town, Nita District, Shimane Prefecture, taking its name from its position at the boundary of three former districts — Nita, Ōhara and Nogi. The Sangunsan Tanshōro nature-observation trail, designated and maintained by Shimane Prefecture, follows the Meiji-era Kuno path and forest roads up from Kamesasaki, passing through cedar plantations and broadleaf forest. From the summit there are views of Lake Nakaumi and Mount Daisen to the north and east, and of Mount Azuma and Mount Sanbe to the south and west. The mountain is included in the Mountains of Shimane (Bunken-tozan-guide) list.
