Mt. Ōtakatori

大高取山

Ōtakatoriyama is a 376.2 m peak rising at the centre of Ogose Town in Iruma District, Saitama, and is the highest point in the town. It is the symbolic satoyama of Ogose, which in 2016 became Japan's first municipality to declare itself a "hiking town," and the peak topped the 2022 popularity vote for the town's newly designated Ogose 10 Famous Mountains. With Ogose Bairin (plum grove) at its foot and within walking distance of Ogose Station on the Tobu Ogose Line, the well-maintained trails connect to Katsuragi Kannon and the World Memorial Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and offer views as far as Tokyo on a clear day.
