Mt. Ōnishi

Mt. Ōnishi (1,741 m) rises on the border between Ōshika and Toyooka villages in Shimo-Ina District, Nagano Prefecture, in the southern Ina mountain range. Included in the Quiet Mountains list, it sits near the confluence of the Koshibu and Aoki rivers and was the site of a major landslide on its northeastern flank during the 1961 "Sanroku" rainstorm disaster. Three routes — from Ōkawara in Ōshika Village, Ikuta in Matsukawa Town, and Kumashiro in Toyooka Village — give access, though the Toyooka route has largely fallen out of use; outside of those few approaches the peak sees few hikers.
