Mt. Ogura (955 m) rises in Kōshū City, Yamanashi Prefecture, and is selected for the Yamanashi 100 Hiking Course, the Kai 100 Mountains and the 50 Flower Mountains. Once a center of crystal mining, the foot of the mountain in Tamamiya hosts a renowned colony of skunk cabbage (zazensō) that generates its own heat to bloom through the snow each early spring. The gentle two-hour climb leads to a summit observation deck overlooking the Kōfu Basin and the Southern Alps.
