A 702-meter peak straddling the border of Shūhō Town and Mitō Town in Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, set in the Nagato range just north of the Akiyoshidai karst plateau. The mountain formed where rhyolite intrudes through an andesitic base, and historic records also call it Shijō-san and Tomeshi-san. Myōken-gū, dedicated to Hokushin Myōken (the North-Star deity), stands at the summit, where the view sweeps directly across the Akiyoshidai plateau and toward Mt. Nishi-Hōbenzan. Four maintained routes — the Shiraitotaki, Yoroi-tōge, Hobashirahara and Hi-no-take courses — make this a popular round-trip day climb of about 2½ hours. Listed in Yamaguchi Hyakumeizan, Bōchō Hyakuzan and Nihon no Yama 1000.
