Mt. Adachi (also called Mt. Kirigatake) is a 598 m peak in Kokura-Kita Ward of Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Together with neighbouring Mt. Myōken and Mt. Tonoue, it forms the Kiku Range and lies within Kitakyushu Quasi-National Park. It is listed among the 100 Famous Mountains of Kyushu and takes its name from a legend that the Nara-period courtier Wake no Kiyomaro healed his injured leg here on his way to Usa Shrine; Myōken Shrine, dedicated to him, stands at the foot of the mountain. The summit is the highest point on the 21 km Kiku Nature Trail maintained by the city and gives a panoramic view of the Kanmon Strait and Kitakyushu cityscape.
