Mount Uki (805.1 m) rises on the border between the Yoshii district of Itoshima City (Fukuoka) and the Nanayama district of Karatsu City (Saga), forming one of the principal peaks at the western end of the Sefuri Range. Its name — 'floating peak' — comes from the way it appears to float above the sea when viewed from the Genkai-Nada, making it a navigational landmark for sailors crossing to Iki. The mid-slope Ukidake Shrine, founded by tradition by Empress Jingū to pray for victory in battle, preserves three Heian-period wooden Buddhist statues designated Important Cultural Properties, and the White Dragon Inari Shrine stands near the summit. The Itoshima Tourism Association lists Ukidake on the combined Nijō-area trail map together with Onna-dake, Nijō-dake, and Tonbō-yama.
