Mount Seiryū

Mount Seiryū is a 333 m peak in Bimanji, Taga Town, Inukami District, Shiga Prefecture, long venerated as the kami body and iwakura of Konomiya-jinja at its foot, where the deities of water and harvest were worshipped from antiquity. The peak became the mountain-name of medieval Tendai temple Bimanji, whose monastic complex flourished from the twelfth through fifteenth century with roughly 2,000 monks and lay residents. The Bimanji Sekibutsudani Cemetery on its slopes is a National Historic Site. The peak is listed in the Ōmi Hyakuzan and the Suzuka 300.
