Mount Misuji

Mount Misuji is an 821 m peak straddling Higashi-Izu Town and Kawazu Town in Shizuoka, set on a spur ridge of the Amagi range within the Izu sector of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. The Inatori Hosono Highland (about 125 ha) stretches across its south-eastern slope, a vast pampas grassland kept open by an annual February burn-off; the golden autumn susuki landscape is one of Izu's signature scenes. The summit offers a 360-degree panorama taking in Sagami Bay, the Izu Islands, and the Amagi peaks. Three trail options of 25, 60, and 140 minutes are signposted, and the mountain features in Japan's Hana no Hyakumeizan.
