Mount Chōkurō

Mount Chōkurō is a 995.7 m peak in Matsuzaki Town, Shizuoka, set on the north-western ridge of the Amagi range within the Izu sector of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. The summit area harbours a wild stand of Amagi rhododendron whose pink-tinged blossoms spread across the ridge in late May, drawing flower-watchers to one of Izu's celebrated floral mountains. The standard approach is a roughly 10 km round-trip from Yaze Pass, taking about five and a half hours, and the summit observation deck looks out over the Amagi range, Suruga Bay, Mount Fuji, and the Izu Islands. The peak features in Shin Hana no Hyakumeizan and Shizuoka no Hyakuzan.
