Mount Hongu

A 346-meter peak in Higashikagawa City, Kagawa Prefecture, and the middle of the three Mizushi Sanzan together with Mount Toramaru (417 m) and Mount Nachi (271 m). The trio of summits is modeled on the Kumano Sanzan and has long been revered as the inner sanctuary of Mizushi Shrine at the foot. Hikers find a huge boulder called Kujira-ishi ("whale stone") on the slopes, and the round-trip route takes about an hour and a half. The peak is included in the Kagawa Prefecture Mountain Guide (Bunken Tozan Guide).
