Mount Hitsugasen (953.4 m) rises in central Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture, southeast of Yubara Onsen, its triple-chest profile earning it the nickname Yubara Fuji and a place on the Chugoku Hyakumeizan. A small shrine at the eighth station, in the Tengu-no-Mori beech grove, enshrines Sakuragi-bo, said in local legend to be visited by the tengu of Mount Daisen in Hoki. The main route climbs from the Kuno trailhead in about two hours one way, or four hours for a loop continuing along the ridge toward Mount Hoshi.
