Mount Hashikami

Mount Hashikami is a 739.6-meter peak straddling Hashikami Town in Aomori and Hirono Town in Iwate, gently profiled like a reclining ox—hence its alternate name Gagyū-zan. The eighth-station meadow of Daikaitai bursts into wild Japanese azalea bloom from late May to early June, drawing many hikers. Included in Sanriku Fukko National Park since May 2013, the summit offers views of the Pacific Ocean, the Hakkōda range, and the Kitakami Mountains. It is counted among the Aomori 110 and Iwate 100 famous mountains.
