Kanmuriga Dake

Kanmurigadake, 1,154.1 m, rises in Nishihara Village in Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture, and is the highest peak on the western half of the Aso Southern Outer Rim, within Aso-Kuju National Park. Its trapezoidal profile seen from the Kumamoto Plain inspired the name Crown Peak. Routes approach from Jizo Pass or via Ichinomine (858 m) and Ninomine (870 m), with kaya-grass ridges and summer scabious flowers. Rocks just below the summit offer views of the Aso peaks and distant Mount Unzen.
