Unmanned shelter at about 2,020m near Mt. Okura, inside Hakusan National Park, in Hirase, Shirakawa Village, Ono District, Gifu Prefecture. It stands partway along the Hirase route, the approach to Hakusan from the Gifu side: 6.9km from Oshirakawa to Hakusan Murodo, about four hours ten minutes up and two hours fifty down. The Oshirakawa park where the trail begins lies some 15km south of the World Heritage gassho-zukuri village of Shirakawa-go, reached by about 13km of prefectural road from the Hirase hot-spring hamlet on Route 156, and it adjoins the emerald-green Hakusui lake, an open-air bath and a campground. The Hakusan Tourism Association gives a capacity of 15 and records neither a water source nor a toilet. The hut is open all year at no charge, though visitors are asked not to let one group monopolise it. Climbers on the Gifu side of Hakusan are required to file a climbing plan.
