Hut at about 1,360m at the sixth station of Mt. Hakkai (1,778m) in Yamaguchi, Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture, a peak climbed by worshippers as a sacred mountain since ancient times. It stands about an hour and twenty minutes up the trail from the summit station of the Hakkaisan Ropeway at the fourth station; another hour reaches Senbonhinoki Goya and the Hakkaisan emergency shelter at the ninth station, and one hour more the highest point, Dainichidake, at the tenth. The ropeway base station is about 20 minutes by bus from Muikamachi Station (Yamaguchi service, alight at the terminus) or about 15 minutes by car. The Minamiuonuma Tourism Association gives a capacity of 20 people and notes that the toilet runs on a voluntary contribution. Mt. Hakkai's mountain-opening rites fall on the last Sunday of June for the Jonai approach and on 1 July for the Osaki and Okura approaches.
