新茅山荘

A hut at about 510m on Hadano city road 52, the Togawa forest road that runs up the left bank of the Mizunashi river in the Tanzawa range. From Shibusawa Station on the Odakyu Odawara line a Kanachu bus reaches the Okura terminus in 15 minutes, and the hut is about an hour's walk up the forest road from there. Just beyond it, Shinkaya bridge marks where climbers drop into Shinkaya-no-sawa, the stream that runs up to Karasuoyama. The road carries on from here to Tozawa-no-Deai, the base for stream climbing and for the ridges above, and it is open to walkers and vehicles alike, so almost everyone heading into or out of this valley passes the door. The shop opens on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
