越百避難小屋

2,340 m · Okuwa, Nagano · 0.9 km from the summit of Mt. Kosumoyama

Emergency shelter at 2,340m in the forest belt about 1km west of Kosumoyama in the southern Central Alps. Established by Okuwa Village under a village ordinance, this unmanned hut exists to protect hikers from bad weather or injury and to serve as a base for rescue teams. It adjoins Kosumo-goya, the staffed hut whose operation is currently suspended, and a recirculating bio-toilet stands beside it. The shelter lies on the trail from the Inagawa valley on the Kiso side toward Kosumoyama and Minamikomagatake; parking for hikers has been laid out below the Inagawa dam near the national-forest gate. Use is free of charge, but the village asks that trips not be planned around staying here.
