From the Ariuji side of Kuju, Taketa, this return passes the Iriyama Mausoleum, where the Oka domain lord Nakagawa Hisakiyo rests, and skirts the crater lake Oike below the summit to the 1,786 m Mount Taisen, the third-highest of the Kuju range. In June the nationally protected Miyama-kirishima azaleas turn the ridges pink, in October autumn colour is reflected in Oike, and the summit surveys the Kuju mountains.
