This signature Mount Asama return route starts at Tengu Onsen Asama Mountain Lodge and passes the Kazankan Hut, Yunotaira junction, and Sainokawara junction to Maekake-yama. Beyond the forest, sulphur scents and a volcanic landscape of sand and gravel emerge. From the 2,524 m summit, the Mount Asama crater is close at hand.
