From the Tengu Onsen Asama Sanso lodge, this loop climbs past the Kazankan hut to the Yunotaira crater floor, ascends the steep scree of the J-Band from Sai-no-kawara onto Asama's first outer rim, and follows its rocky crest over Nokogiridake, Sennindake, Jakotsudake, Kurofuyama and Tomi-no-kashira before dropping down the steep Kusasuberi slope back to Yunotaira. The rim falls away sharply toward Mount Asama, which rises across the crater floor, and larch forests turn gold in autumn.
