From Keage, with its Lake Biwa Canal heritage, this route passes Hyuga Daijingu, known as the Ise of Kyoto, and follows the Kyoto Isshu Trail onto the Higashiyama ridge to the 465 m summit of Mount Daimonji. After a sweeping view of the city from the bonfire site where the great character of the Gozan Okuribi is lit, it crosses Mount Zenki and descends to Hachi Shrine beside Ginkakuji.
