This short out-and-back hike climbs from the trailhead behind Ginkakuji across the slopes of Zenkizan to the Daimonji fire beds, where the giant character is lit during Kyoto's Gozan Okuribi. Seventy-five fire beds spread across the mountainside, and the centre of the character commands a broad view over Kyoto and its surrounding basin.
