From the parking area for Hossawa Falls in Hinohara, Tokyo, one of Japan's 100 finest waterfalls, the path climbs to Tokisaka Pass, with its great firs and an old farmhouse with a turning waterwheel, then past Oyamazumi Shrine onto the Sengen Ridge. The ridge carried the old Koshu middle road linking Edo and Kofu before valley routes existed, and the Sengenrei lookout faces Odake and Gozen to the north and, on clear days, Mount Fuji to the south.
