Starting at Homan-gu Kamado Shrine, the route first makes a return visit to Dazaifu Tenmangu, then climbs the Front Pilgrimage Trail to the 829.6-metre summit of Mount Homan and Kamado Shrine's upper sanctuary before retracing the ascent. It links the principal sanctuary of Tenjin worship, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, with a sacred mountain whose ancient ritual remains are protected as a National Historic Site. This is a substantial mountain hike with long stone stairways, including Hyakudan Gangi, steep slopes, and rocky passages, rewarded by broad views toward Dazaifu and Hakata Bay.
