Akan Royal Valley trail map
Akan Royal Valley, known locally as "Roiba", is a small family ski hill on a low rise in Akan, Kushiro. Its founder opened it so that children and beginners could enjoy skiing, and that is still its character: one lift, wide and gentle beginner-to-intermediate slopes with open views of the Akan mountains, and an ungroomed advanced run. There is a free sledding area and a local ski school. Beside the slope sit KIELO SAUNA, a wood-fired Finnish sauna, a café and two trailer-house rooms. It is about 5 minutes from Akan IC and 20 minutes from Kushiro Airport, and usually runs from January to early March.
