Sengokudake

千石岳

A 630-meter peak in the Wada district of western Shūnan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, near the boundary with Yamaguchi City. The name is said to derive from a local tradition that 1,000 koku of millet could be harvested around the summit, and stone Kōbō-Daishi statues line the old pilgrim trail. The well-maintained path reaches the top in about an hour, opening on clear days to views of Lake Takase below and the Kunisaki Peninsula across the Seto Inland Sea. Listed in the Yamaguchi 100 Mountains, the Bōchō Hyakuzan and the Suō 100 Mountains rosters.
