Mt. Ōtakamori

Mt. Ōtakamori is a 105.2 m peak in the center of Miyato Island in Higashi-Matsushima City, Miyagi Prefecture, the highest summit on the island. The summit observation deck looks out over more than 260 islands floating in Matsushima Bay — one of the Three Views of Japan — and the dramatic Sagakei coast, and is celebrated as the leading "Sōkan" (grand view) of the Edo-period "Matsushima Four Great Views" selected by the Confucian scholar Funayama Bannen. The summit can be reached in about 20 minutes from the trailhead. The peak is included on the Shimayama 100 Selection.
