Mount Shintomi is a 44 m hill in Matsushima Town, Miyagi Prefecture, just north of Zuigan-ji. From the lookout on its top, Matsushima Bay opens out with Fukuurajima in front and the town centre in view; the scene is said to change with every foot of ascent. It is 20 minutes on foot from Matsushimakaigan Station and 10 from Matsushima Station. A monument inscribed with a poem by the British poet Edmund Blunden also stands here.
