Mt. Myōken

Mt. Myōken is a 622 m peak on the boundary between Nishiwaki City and the Sannan area of Tanba City in Hyōgo Prefecture, on the southern Tanba Highlands. Just below the summit stands the Myōken-dō, dedicated to the Myōken Bodhisattva, and the mountain has long served as a center of Shugendō ascetic practice. It is commonly traversed together with neighboring Mt. Hakusan, with access from JR Hon-Kuroda Station on the Kakogawa Line or Tanigawa Station on the Fukuchiyama Line. The peak is listed in the Nishiwaki Tourism Association's "Nishiwaki 10 Mountains" and the Hyōgo Prefecture Mountain Guide.
