Masui-yama is a 259 m peak rising on the northern edge of Himeji City, Hyōgo Prefecture, long revered as the seat of Zuigan-ji, an ancient Tendai-school temple said to have been founded by the Korean monk Huibian under Prince Shōtoku's order and later revived by the priest Gyōki. After the temple complex burned in the late 16th century, it was rebuilt under Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the Himeji-domain lord Sakakibara Tadatsugu. The main hall, sutra hall, and founder's hall are designated National Important Cultural Properties, as is the wooden Bishamonten statue enshrined within. A popular ridge traverse from JR Goshaku Station passes Zuigan-ji and continues to Hiromine Shrine, offering views over the Himeji cityscape and the Seto Inland Sea. The peak is included in the Furusato Hyōgo 100 Mountains.
