Gokenzan (also Yakuri-yama, 375 m) rises on the border of Aji and Mure in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture, facing Yashima across the Dan-no-ura strait of Genpei War fame. A rugged, rocky mountain of five peaks, it lost part of its fifth peak in the 1707 Hōei earthquake. Yakuriji, the 85th temple of the Shikoku pilgrimage, sits on its slope, and the mountain lies within Setonaikai National Park. Climbing to the summit is currently prohibited because of rockfall danger. It is counted among the Shikoku Hyakuzan and the Kagawa prefectural climbing guide.
