Mount Shiratake

Mount Shiratake is a 373 m peak in Himeura, Himedo-machi, Kami-Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Set within Unzen-Amakusa National Park, it is a centrepiece of the Kankai Alps section of the Kyushu Nature Trail and looks out over both the Yatsushiro and Ariake seas. A 350 m sky zipline with a 90 m drop, launched in September 2025, departs from just below the summit, and the Shiratake Forest Park campground sits on the slope. The mountain is listed in the Kumamoto Hyakumeizan.
