Mount Shiraiwa is a 1,646.7 m peak on the Miyazaki–Kumamoto border in Gokase, set along the spine of the Kyushu Mountains. Listed in the Miyazaki Hyakuzan and Nihon no Yama 1000, it is crowned by a 60–70 m limestone tower whose 'Shiraiwa Limestone Peak Plant Community' — designated a Miyazaki Prefecture Natural Monument — supports more than 400 plant species. It is most commonly climbed in combination with neighbouring Mount Mukozaka from the Tenyabo trailhead.
