Mount Ryūjin (Ryūjin-dake) is a 1,382 m peak straddling the border of Ryūjin-mura in Tanabe City (Wakayama) and Totsukawa Village (Nara), within Kōya-Ryūjin Quasi-National Park, and is the highest mountain in Wakayama Prefecture. A 2000 resurvey by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan determined it to be roughly 10 m higher than the neighboring Mount Gomadan (1,372 m), and Tanabe City held a nationwide naming contest, formally adopting the name "Ryūjin-dake" on 3 March 2009. The summit is easily reached via the Kōya-Ryūjin Skyline and a short walk from the Gomadan Forest Park, and the mountain is featured in lists including "Highest Peaks of Each Prefecture," "Kansai-Region 130 Mountains," and the Wakayama prefectural climbing guide.
