Mount Ōmatei

Mount Ōmatei is a 1,409.2 m peak on the border of Ōtsuki City and Kosuge Village in Yamanashi, set on the long ridge that extends east from the Daibosatsu range along the Ushi-no-ne traverse. The name is said to derive from "Ōmadoi-yama" — the easily-lost mountain — and the peak typically serves as a waypoint on loops linking Narakura and Tsurune over the headwaters of the Tama River. It lies within Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park, with grand horse-chestnut and beech trees and one of the Okutama region's finest red-toned autumn displays. The standard loop starts and finishes at the Kosuge roadside station.
