Mount Oiwa

Mount Oiwa is an approximately 490 m peak in Hitachi, Ibaraki Prefecture, rising in the Taga Hills west of the city. Long revered as a sacred mountain, it is reached by pilgrimage trails from Oiwa Shrine at its foot, with the Kabire Shrine enshrined partway up. It forms part of the Hitachi Alps ridge route and is counted among the Nihon 100 Teimeizan low-mountain list. It is recorded in the ancient Hitachi-no-Kuni Fudoki as "Kabire-no-takamine" and is also known as Kabire-no-mine.
