Mount Kashima lies on Nekozaki Peninsula in Takeno. A trail from Kashima Park crosses the summit to Nekosaki Lighthouse at the northernmost point of Hyogo Prefecture. The route passes through largely natural evergreen broadleaf forest and rugged terrain, with glimpses of Takeno Beach and the Sea of Japan between the trees. The return walk from the peninsula entrance to the lighthouse takes about two hours.
