Mount Iwao

Mount Iwao is a 470.8 m mountain in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, near the border with Iga City, Mie Prefecture. This sacred mountain contains the inner sanctuary of Sokushoji Temple, traditionally founded by Saicho in the early Heian period, and is known as a training ground for Koka ninja. Unusual formations include a horse-shaped rock, a fan-shaped rock and Mokugyo-iwa, while an image of Fudo Myo-o is carved into Byobu-iwa.
