Mount Hiyori

Mount Hiyori is a 63 m hill overlooking Toba, Mie Prefecture, reached on walking routes from Toba Station. Its name comes from ships’ masters climbing it to read the weather, and it overlooks Toba Bay. A compass stone dated 1822 stands at the lookout: a circular disc on an octagonal pillar, marked with the cardinal directions and the twelve zodiac directions.
