Mount Garan

Mount Garan is a 1,045 m active volcano in Tsukahara, Yufuin-machi, Yufu City, Oita Prefecture, the most active vent of the Tsurumi-Garandake volcanic group. A roughly 300 m wide crater on its flanks hosts a mud volcano, and a short trail climbs to the summit from the strongly acidic Tsukahara hot spring. Hikers must check current volcanic-activity advisories. The peak is listed in the Ōita Hyakuzan and New Ōita Hyakuzan.
